Thank You Mama is dedicated to uplifting women and children in Kampala, Uganda, providing essential support, resources, and opportunities for a brighter future through our charity initiatives.
The Thank You Mama event is a Mother’s Day celebration organised by Blessed Divas Uganda. Launched as Uganda’s first public Mother’s Day event, it gathers mothers for a special occasion, while raising funds that support disadvantaged women across slum communities.

“As a teenager, I realised women were not appreciated despite being household breadwinners. Many struggle to access maternal healthcare… Thank You Mama celebrates motherhood, fights for women’s health, gender equality, and equal opportunity through seminars. Our vision is empowered women socially and economically.”
Success Stories So Far...
We measure our success in actual lives changed. These stories are a testament to the difference that communities can make when we come together to create lasting change. Mariam Cokoosa, Anyongo Scovia and Nanyombi Aisha, were among the 5 less privileged mothers we helped in Kamwokya.
All the above mothers were so glad and happy to receive help from us. We gave them clothes (both, mothers and children) and food stuff like sugar, salt, bread, cooking oil, and other items like soap, and toothpaste. These items are likely to last them for more than a month. Since some of the women like Scovia could not afford buying sugar, she was so happy to have been given sugar, so they could finally be able to take her porridge with sugar in it .

Anyango Scovia 34 yrs old
" I have four children, my first born is 13 yrs and last is four years. My last born does not go to school though her age mates are already in nursery but my income is low and I look after these children by myself alone. The father of my children does not care about them. I sell charcoal for a living. Most of the days we eat porridge without sugar for lunch. "Anyango and her children were able to have sugar in their porridge, thanks to the donations raised at our fundraising event in Kampala.
Mariam Cokoosa 62 yrs old
Mariam lives with her 5 grandchildren. She says she gave birth to only two girls and one died but left her with two grandchildren. And her one child that remained is not well off. Maria also struggling and leaves her 3 kids with the mum (Marian Cokoosa). So the five grandchildren are al from her daughters. She sells cooked food from her home and that's how she earns a living. She cooks posho and fish which she sells. We helped Mariam by providing her with gifts, of basic toiletries, food and necessities from the money we raised from our very first Thank You Mama event.
Nanyombi Aisha is 41 yrs old
Nanyombi has 9 children. "We eat once in a day, my kids go to poor government schools and paying their school fees is a hustle since my job is to sell charcoal so I earn so little" Says Aisha. She said she goes ahead to try doing others jobs like washing clothes for people, sorting out beans for different stores in order to get money to meet their basic needs like food, clothes and others..Nanyombi and her children reside in a two roomed house which is too old and almost falling on them. Nanyombi and her children also benefited from the donations of funds raised at the Thank You Mama Event in Kampala. We would like to be able to help her further and your donations can go a long way towards helping Nanyombi and her children.
